Should Small Companies Hire Advertising Agencies?
03/27/2009 - By Donald Varner Small companies should hire advertising agencies to expand its reach and to push the profit ceiling up. That is a fact. If you have a small company, any paid (in your case, self-sponsored) form on non-personal communication about your company, product, service, or idea will definitely put your name on the map, especially if it is satisfactorily marketed. The paid aspect in getting ad services reflects the fact that the space or time of your advertising message generally must be bought. But do not worry, if marketing strategy is good, this expense will immediately be converted to profits.
Simply hire an ad agency that can give you a good non-personal advertising. This means that advertising involves mass media (e.g., TV, radio, magazines, newspapers), those that can transmit a message to large groups of individuals, often at the same time. The non-personal nature of advertising means that there is generally no opportunity for immediate feedback from the message recipient (except in direct-response advertising). Therefore, before you post a message to the public, consider how your potential audience will interpret and respond to it.
Advertising is the best-known and most widely discussed form of promotion, probably because of its popularity. It is also a very important promotional tool, even for small companies like you but whose products and services are targeted at mass consumer markets such as packaged goods, and drugs.
If you are a small company, hire advertising agencies to build your company or brand equity as it is a powerful way to provide consumers with information as well as to influence their perceptions. Ad agencies can help your company create favorable and unique images and associations for your name which can be very important for you as you sell your products or services that are difficult to differentiate on the basis of functional attributes. Your company’s image and name plays an important role in the purchase of many products and services, and advertising is still recognized as one of the best ways to build a brand.
The nature and purpose of advertising differ from one industry to another and/or across situations. Companies selling products and services to the consumer market generally depend almost totally on advertising to communicate with their target audiences as do retailers and other local merchants. However, advertising can also be done by an industry to stimulate demand for a product category such as rice or egg. Advertising is also used extensively by companies who compete in the business and professional markets to reach current and potential customers.
Your company can use advertising to perform important functions such as building awareness for you and your products, generating leads for the sales force, reassuring customers about the purchase they have made, or helping create a favorable image.
If you have a small company, it is advisable to hire a small ad agency to build your brand publicity. Small ad agencies move at lightning speed. One advantage of small ad agencies is the absence of multiple approval layers from within its organization. Because of this, projects get executed efficiently and rapidly.
